How Much Does Custom ERP Software Cost?

Published October 3, 2026

There is no honest single price for custom ERP software, because the work varies too much. What I can do is explain what drives the cost, so you can judge any quote you receive, mine included.

What drives the cost

  • How many modules you need, such as inventory, sales, invoicing, HR, and reporting.
  • How many types of users there are and what each may see or change.
  • Integrations with tools you already use, such as accounting or payment services.
  • Moving existing data from spreadsheets or an old system.
  • How much custom reporting you need.
  • Hosting and security requirements.

Why an early fixed price is a warning sign

A price given before anyone has understood your process is a guess. It is either padded to cover the unknowns, or it grows later when the real requirements appear. A good quote follows a conversation about how your business runs.

How to keep the cost under control

  • Build in phases, so you pay for and use one module at a time.
  • Start with the module that saves the most time.
  • Keep the scope written down and agree how changes are handled.
  • Ask what is included after launch.

What to ask for in any quote

Ask what exactly will be delivered, who owns the code, what happens after launch, how changes are handled, and how payment is split. If any of these answers is vague, ask again before you agree.

How I handle it

I start with a discovery call to understand how your business runs. Scope, timeline, and payment terms are then agreed in writing before any work starts.
